A Tragedy

Today my city suffered a tragedy.

It’s easy to see these things on the news and to become detached, but tonight watching TV I keep seeing the library I visit weekly, the streets I walk every day and the city skyline that I call home. I don’t know what to say except that my heart goes out to the victims, and my thanks go out to the police, fire and ambulance crew who definitely saved lives today.

Time will tell us what this means, and our reaction to that information will be a major part of how we confront the future. I hope we have the leadership to do it right.

In the meantime, please hug your loved ones and — if you are in Boston — stay inside.
