Among the veterans I interviewed for “16 Photographs At Ohrdruf” was Ralph Tennant, who fought with the 89th Infantry Division. I was only able to interview Ralph by phone, but it was great to include his story in the film. He is one of the few surviving witnesses to the discovery of Ohrdruf on April 4, 1945. Many soldiers came later, but those men of the 89th and 4th Armored Divisions can claim credit for uncovering the first concentration camp found by the Allies.
Recently, Ralph was featured on NBC Nightly News, and below is a clip of his interview.
